It is located in the western part of the Balkan range, among magnificent beech forests and mixed deciduous and coniferous stands. It is just 40 km northeast of Sofia. The main line of communications between northern and southern part of Bulgaria - "Hemus" highwey passes throgh the territory of the Station. The relief is distinctively mountainous and is a complex system of the ridges and gullies in differences in directions. The nomerous steep slopes account for the significant differences in altitude. The highast point is under Murgash peak (1,600 m) and the lowest point is the nearby Bebresh dam - 500 m. Despite its small area, folloed by roe deer ,wild boar and yak. "Vitinya" has three fenced areas with a total area of 501 ha for intensive breeding and of mouflon, fallow deer and yak.
The Game Breeding Station provides hunting of red deer, wild boar, roe deer, yak, wolf, fox and wildcat as pheasant, rock partridge and woodpigeon. The fishing includes rainbow trout, carp and grass carp. In addition there are guided tours and horseback riding to tempt the guests at "Vitinya". |
